You obviously don't have kids. If I took it off right away, it would confirm to him it was something he should be scared of. He got used to it just minutes later and loved it and laughed about it. He just didn't understand at first. Torture? Hardly! If this is torture then I suppose it's torturing him when I put on his diaper and he protests, or I strap him in his carseat...
