Yeah, she looks like she just had babies. Poor thing.

odd behavior for a raccoon to be out in the middle of the day...

Moms come out during the day because they have to leave their babies alone, and there are less predators during the day time hours. Also it's warmer during the day for the babies.

I feed a feral cat and leave food and water on the front porch. Apparently I'm also feeding some raccoons. I didn't know they drank that way (with their paws). So I learned something new today. Thanks.

Poor girl, nursing babies and very skinny. Raccoons don't actually wash their food. They have 10,000 more nerve endings in their paws than humans have in their hands. It's thought that the water on their paws increases the sensitivity. They gather a lot of information with their paws.

poor hungry momma! i think I'd put out a second bowl around back for the raccoon so she could eat and be able to care for her babies without getting close to the kitties. she's so desperate! it was cute to see her run, but it's sad to think of her starving. :(

Not good. Racoons don't come out during the day unless sick. Nocturnal......

Such interesting creatures. Get food... wash hands. Get food... wash hands.

I feel like this is an accurate representation of the movie "This is the End"

That's not true at all. It's a myth that's been perpetuated for decades to the serious detriment of these animals. Raccoons with babies, like this one, often scavenge for food during the day because it's safer to leave their babies during daylight hours than at night.

The poor raccoon is trying to find a meal and nursing. They need the water, because they prefer to wash their food. It's too bad the people recording are insensitive to wildlife needs. Please do not post anymore sensitive issues about animals for human entertainment. This is no comedy nor a joke. You are disrespecting animals by posing them as frivolous. The hum in the background of traffic indicates that there is very little green space and safe places for wildlife to roam. The suburbs are taking away precious lands. I do not like this video and would urge the people who own it, to remove it. I hope you pay more attention to wildlife in the way of studying them and finding ways of communicating respectfully with them. Your name, tastefully offensive is an oxymoron. Either you are tasteful or offensive. You cannot be both. I would urge you to re-think your identity and what you want the public to see. If you want comedy, try exposing yourselves in funny ways. Leave poor animals alone. The reason that I go on is that this is a sensitive issue with me that many people already have misconceptions and not educated about wildlife or domestic animals. So why, feed them more misconceptions. Education about animals is more important.

Raccoons are not thieves. They have adapted to human activities.

You should use this comment thread as an opportunity to educate, not to judge me or criticize my website. I admire your passion, but the person filming the raccoon isn't doing anything to harm the raccoon. I never post videos of animals being mistreated or disrespected.

Clearly you forgot to take your meds today. Shut it.

kitcatlib: I really don't believe the recorder is insensitive to wildlfe animals. At least the raccoon is getting some food. Perhaps they will put a bowl out just for her elsewhere. It is a shame about the encroachment of developments on natural areas. Some communities are keeping green spaces. You seem to be well educated about wildlife but , I swear, you sound like Sheldon of TBBT. Most of us thouht the video was cute. The moniker, "tastefully offensive", is clever in my book.
