Mother leaves son defenseless on the ground to call 911 while cat sticks around to make sure he's ok.

eh yeah, but then the humanity is against death penalty for humans who killed or abused children.

a dog is a living being
and we are living beings
we shouldn't decide who is allowed to live and who not!

If your dog can't be outside without supervision and without a leash, do not leave it outside without supervision and without a leash.

A dog is not a "who" it is a "what.

it's all about how a dog is raised. of course, a certain breed can adapt a certain behavior just because that's how people expect that breed to act and therefore they treat it in that manner. but it's smarter (and safer) to never judge what a dog might do by their breed,

When dog attacks somebody, the first one you should look at is the owner of the dog. You get an animal - you're responsible for it. We're the smartest creatures on Earth and yet blaming animals for not understanding us, instead of trying to understand animal's behaviour. (And I was attacked 2 times by my parent's dog who thought small dogs are not cool enough for them but never bothered to learn shit about dogs)...
You kill one dog - the guy gets another one. He could hound that dog on purpose for all we know.

How do you teach a cat and a dog to do all that? You don't. It's obviously not staged...

Dogs should never be off a leash anyway... They were bread from wolves for christ sake.

Kill the dog, kill the owner, kill whoever is to blame. That could have gone a LOT worse if it wasn't for the cat...

how do you explain that the parents were randomly taking video of the dog and followed it around until it attacked their son?

Are you a cat Chris?

Nope. 5 years old. Healthy - no apparent illness. We didn't pay for an autopsy. Sometimes SH$t happens for no reason at all. We loved that dog - Portuguese Water Dog. It was a very sad day around the home.

'Bred'. Bread is what you eat. :P

Dogs are bred to be domesticated creatures. There are interested videos on how they do this. Dogs are not just wolves with collars on.

Now dogs CAN be unpredictable, and shouldn't be allowed to roam neighborhoods, where they can possibly hurt other animals and themselves. But I believe that is Sami's point here; it's difficult to blame an animal when it's very, very probable that the animal has been abused or neglected, especially if the dog is allowed to roam around free.

My neighborhood had a problem with a small dog that kept escaping the yard of an uncaring family and would run to my house to play with my dogs. I made the mistake of repeatedly taking the dog back to his owners, until one day during one of his multiple escapes, he was killed by a car. The result was still a living being being injured (and killed, which this boy may have been if not for the cat) because of the negligence of the people who were suppose to be the dog's caretakers.
