Christmas is right around the corner, so it’s a great time to see how different cultures celebrate the holiday all over the world. Plenty of countries have traditions that make a jolly man in a red suit seem pretty tame. There’s the evil Christmas Krampus in Austria and Germany, who beats naughty children. In parts of Spain and Italy, people put figurines defecating in their nativity scenes. And in Ukraine, people mix in a little Halloween and decorate their Christmas tree with fake spiders and spiderwebs, which they believe brings good luck for the coming year.
