I've recently started my own penny auction site. It really started out as a simple little project to mess around with in my free time, but the more that goes into it, the more I'd like to really get it going. It is still in the beginning stages, and therefore, I'm only starting to build traffic, but I'll be sticking around for the long haul. You made the comment that you don't understand why most sites don't let the users communicate, but I've gone ahead and linked mine right up to a Facebook fanpage in hopes that people WILL communicate. I'd like to get to a point where users can post via Facebook about the deals they've gotten and whatever else they'd like to talk about as they wait out the end of an auction. not only was this on youtube, but it was literally EVERYWHERE, first of all, it was recorded from a news camera ON scene, second was that it was posted on youtube, then made into a song from "autotune the news" and third is that Danial Tosh invited him onto his show and showed the video
