I've always been envious of the dancers on TV performing those wordless routines. Now I feel I gave the language to create my own story and put to music. Thus is such a great tool. Thank you contemporary Eric.

The best laughters are those one cannot express instantly. Maybe because it is late at night and I do not want to wake up the neighbors baby across the hall, but I know this delayed reaction will come someday on the train, or on the bus, or in the mall, and I will not know how to control myself. And then everyone will know how mad I am.

THANK YOU!!!!

i have watched this to like 5 different ani difranco songs and it matches all of them perfectly! love this so much!

Loved this! I'm going to require it as viewing for all my college dance students. I'm afraid I may need to point out, for some of them, that it is a PARODY and NOT A RESOURCE, LOL! Would you please do one for jazz dance? Too often what passes for jazz these days is hip-hop or sluts-on-parade.

Liana Marcel said...

agreed lol

i was waiting on some jazz hands thrown in for good measure x

Because we all know that "Europeans" are so deep and are never like "Look at me. Look what I can do. Look at how being 'European' is so much better than being American."

Litch said...

Lmfao. It's sad how real them moves are -_-

Annielicious said...

Can't wait to try these moves! :-)

Geneva Rosett-Hafter said...

Ahaha. I never said that. And anyways, I am both American *and* European, so...I'd like to think that I get the best of both worlds. =)

Geneva Rosett-Hafter said...

Eh, this is the internet, we get cheap thrills and quick 30 second moments to satisfy us for entertainment value. Of course it doesn't *need* it, but at least an opinion is better than 'AHAHAHAHA FUNNY'. I found it amusing and accurate in a fantastic stereotypical fashion. XD

Geneva Rosett-Hafter said...

Oh it'd would be awesome to get Anna Halprin in on this conversation. XD I'm sure she would love this video and have something to say about it. These days we're post-modern, thus the term Contemporary. But some choreographer's styles still retain and draw from the past, some more than others, giving a distinct 'modern' feel.

are they for real??

Nice!!!

Peter Stock said...

Well done and thanks for the skill set. Now I don't need to waste $20,000+ and 3 yrs of my fabulous life at a tertiary dance institution. And does this mean I'm now an emerging choreographer?

Passion84dance said...

Very memorable or should l say, unforgettable, Clearly defined, and perfectly explained. I applaud your teaching style and will endeavour to Ericise my future lessons ;)

I believe contemporary Eric is gay.

Dalff said...

Nice, We need some theory thrown into this as well to have a full grasp of the philosophy of contemporary dance.

Marshall Hughes said...

I pissed my pants watching this. (Wait! THAT'S a dance move). This makes me happy because I'll never have to watch another episode of So You Think You Can Dance.
Thank Kyew

Lori said...

This is hilarious! Now if you want a great dance studio website to showcase all your moves go to www.dancestudioswebdesign.com. Or not. hahaha.

Sir Andrew said...

Oh, dear. I think I just hurt something inside from laughing so hard. I'm sending this on Travis Wall. I think he'll get a huge kick out of it.

Geneva Rosett-Hafter said...

Er...no, She gave birth the normal way I'm afraid.

Geneva Rosett-Hafter said...

Who are you? XD

Dean Calin said...

So much is so funny about that. Bich's first comment being cut short and her final query being cut short verbally - oh, the pain.

Davey B said...

That is reeeeally cooool ! I especially liked Contemporary Eric's & Bich's "emotion" and I thought Bich's Peekaboo was especially good !

I am she. said...

hahaha I just laughed so hard! I love it!

jan said...

Great job maybe u can have during the dance what moves u are doing at the bottom again. Other than that perfect and extremely entertaining.

Hobbitsize said...

haha so true! And the "heart leaping out of your chest"

Xio said...

OMG I love contemporary dance even more LOL tis awesome Eric and Bich, thank you for sharing! :D

lynzi said...

you are annoying

Geneva Rosett-Hafter said...

Whyfore? All I did was post an opinion on the internet. WUT?? AN OPINION??? OMG. I DISAGREE TO THEREFORE...I find this person rather annoying and actually take time to tell them this. Well done, my pride is mortally injured. =)

dancecostumer said...

As a longtime dance costumer, I must point out that you need one "aggravate the costumer" move in each dance, such as the knee slide or the butt spin.

yadontsay said...

sexual orientation doesn't negate attractveness

ohdear said...

The irony of your comment coming from someone with a user name of "africanaussie" is not lost on me. I hope it is not lost on you...

Marian Rothschild said...

How about the "there's a bug on my hand and I can't get it off" vibrating hand and swinging of the arm for no apparent reason? That's huge in Chicago.

Javed Scannell said...

Honestly, I prefer the "look what I can do" approach, a lot of the overly dramatic Contemporary styles too often become nothing more then "floor-hugging".
But I have a lot of friends that specialize in Graham technique that LOOOOOOVE the more drama stuff, so i guess it depends on what you like to see. I would rather watch 6 hours of Barishnikov then 5 minutes of Graham. Or watch center stage and put it on repeat lol
