LYW! Hilarious, not to mention safe dance practice all the way, socks on carpet in the living room...anyone who takes this seriously is an idiot, don't care where you are from.

This is contemporary dance from nineties, you should update

Congrats. Fine, gonna use this - with your permission - to show students what I mean with stop doing movement 34 and 21. Like also that movement of "quite a while I didn't have time to lunch" = bite your hand, thats feeling. Or "i am innovative" = take a drink of your water bottle on stage.
Dance is a language to say something, more than to repeat in senseless disorder the few letters which has been learned as elements of that language...

Leon said...

Agree :)

I think Genevas answer to your post is the right point of view, but I can't avoid answer this: 80% of dance coming form USA is for me deeply boring, I just see physical exercises showing somebody learned physical exercises. I rather prefer to go, on festivals and so, to african, asiatic, latinamerican, canadian, from oceania and yes, also european stuff. From the statistics, its more likely I will see something with sense for me. But well, that is of course just my personal taste and linked to my limited experience (and jus talking of dance, nothing else), it can't be general, it isn't a declaration of quality or rule.

Leon said...

haha =) well said.

Interesting in this sense is the sometime unclear history of the relationship between "Modern dance" and "Ausdrucktanz", and also not only who made it, but also where they had success and when.... :)

Leon said...

ou, he had that in 2:24, but i think he did not mention as typical movement of CD, for it has been taken from ballet (so we can be sure it is dance, you know). Just in a little more insistent way...

Leon said...

Yeah, the second one is also used as "try to give birth standing", to be confused with "where is the WC!!!??", both part of the really "organic" classification.

Brilliant! I laughed, I cried, but most of all...I watched in awe an amazement! Where was "Contemporary Eric" and Bich when, "Saturday Night Fever, "Dirty Dancing" or, "BEN HUR" (Sadly, all MAJOR box office flops!) were being made? Had only they hired "Contemporary Eric" as their choreographer, Well,..needless to say,...but,...We can only imagine what blockbusting hits these movies could have been! Until now, I thought life was worthless, dark and depressing and now, I have a reason to to watch the sunrise, put on my dancing shoes, and...dance! dance!! dance!!!
WATCH OUT REALITY TV,...MOVE OVER FRED AND GINGER,,,,ME AND MY MAN,,,WE ARE ON OUR WAY!!!!!

You Are FABULOUS!!!!!

if it is a sarcastic approach to what choregraphers do, instead of creating their own language I applaud. if not its rediculous.

"The Pewp" looks pretty complicated. Is that just hours of practice or is there a specific diet that you would recommend?

OH MY GOD! talk about sexist- control freak issues ! especially the ending ! STOP TRYING TO CONTROL HIM BITCH, just appreciate that he is at least letting a girl participate. what patience, what self control :)

kanogisgi said...

Yes, and the 'Where'd I put my pencil' - an oldie but goodie....otherwise pretty funny...

Unicorns are JERKS said...

well, i would propose to correct the contempoary dance title because what both of you are doing is called Modern dance or Neo Classical dance. i get the joke and it is pretty funny but i am a contemporary dancer and i never did this neo or modern dance during contemporary classes. so please if you make a joke about something just make sure that you know how to make your point. sadly it is pretty weak like this..

Why do I feel that although I now have a deep understanding of the complexities of contemporary dance, I am somehow less intelligent than I was when I didn't get it at all?

It was creative and cute but somehow we have to fight the sexists attitudes in our culture and not add more to it.

You call someone out by calling them a bigot but then you use a slanderous word like Retard in the same sentence? You are no better than dr who.

jf said...

No problem kids.. the video is great. He makes us laugh and think of how both European and American contemporary dance is the same. Don't get so deep into anything just perform the best you can and if the audience likes it they will come back for more..... of course this makes me laugh... have a good day Eric and Bich

Andy if you're not convinced by the face, go review the last few seconds of the video…then follow the twitter and instagram handles provided and you'll realise it really is :)

IF I ever needed a good laugh. I just got another reason to crack up. Thanks for that man. you've always been crazy funny. I'll never forget "The way you make me feel" rendition you did on Lankershim after some audition way back in like 2000. Keep em coming!

At Uni, whilst studying for my Primary Education degree, my roommate was studying contemporary dance. She came home from a "lecture" one day telling us all about the 'follow a part of your body' technique.
Now, I can't dance for toffee, but I can follow my hand. Give me my degree please!
And surely I'll be due my Masters through learning C.Eric's techniques too?

becci said...

I just want you to know that this really spoke to me. I feel that, despite the fact I have never danced before, I now have the courage to step forward and become the contemporary dancer I was born to be.

You sod!
I have spent years lighting dance and managed to keep a straight face. Now, during the tech all I will be thinking is "that's a number 8" or "I see the number 6 is being used again". This could ruin my career. I am devastated.

Hy guys, I am a french dancer, and this is SO TRUE! This only thing you forgot to do is to be naked, totally, run in all direction yelling and movin' arms like crasy, crawl on the floor like a slug. In my country, economically ruined, you cannot imagine how many professionnal liars manage to get public money ( in France there is an official state
" Art " totally suported by public money, like in Soviet Union, and this " Art " is ugly, against all natural instinctive esthetic : the more " intellectual you are , that means that no one understand anything at the " creation", if there is anything to be understood ! , the more money you get !!) All these "genuis" have such big heads, you just can't imagine. In rance the Ministry of Culture is a mafia of detestable big heads persuaded to be THE reference of all arts. Al the rest apart of what they do is just nothing to them, vulgar because popular. It makes me vomit, and in my opinion has to be destroyed.
