Growing in the ’80s felt like living out a scene from a comic book or TV show. Suddenly, you had no adults watching over you. No parents? What a dream!

But for Generation X kids, this was reality. We said goodbye to our parents as we caught the school bus, knowing we’d have to handle our own meals, look after younger siblings, and generally take care of ourselves until they got back.

With that in mind, enjoy these tweets that will have you missing the days of the Rubik’s Cube and summer reruns.
